here comes the second blind spot music vinyl with some of our favourite techno artists on the board. the original track scattered produced by the japanese ryuji takeuchi and it is a proper peak time smasher. ryuji after a few remixes is finally landing with an original track on blind spot music. in the past techno fans have heared his unique style on various releases on label likes of nachtstrom schallplatten, sick weird rough, huehelix or his own imprint local sound network.
on the remix duties are: mallorcas techno ambassador angel costa, who has released on some of the most prestigious labels of the techno scene such as clr, electric deluxe, micro.fon. the german michael schwarz, whose unique driving-techno materials came out on driving forces, wall music, praxxiz and at last but not least blind spots very own dr hoffmann & gabeen. the duo is infecting the techno scene slowly with their lethal sounds.
the scattered ep is not for the faint-hearted, serious underground techno beats on it.

man of mystery, a sagittariun, may not be the first, nor the last, in a long lineage of techno producers to go undercover and under a veil of anonymity, but the west country artist doesnt use this cloak to stir up any hype, quite simply the music does the talking, and since 2011, has released a breath taking selection of music on his own elastic dreams label. and so the archer lands on hypeltd after only one other foray onto labels other than his own (2014s lost cities ep for secretsundaze).

label boss dodi palese is back on what ever not with a brand new chemtrails ep of 6 tracks including remixes from d’marc cantu (crème organization, m>o>s) & rising techno italian artist chevel (enklav, non series, stroboscopic artefacts). title track results as a sick combination of well randomized drum patterns, synths and abstract layers turned into a bouncing house interpretation by the mighty d’marc cantu. the electric shocks of dodis machines go all the way through ‘storm’ delivering a monster dub track which got also treatment by the eclectic and talented chevel, check his slow tempo doped beats to see what we are talking about. two additional luscious bonus tracks, barium and aluminum, complete the package. dodi palese brings the chemtrail conspiracy theory to the music dimension!

this release shows two of the most important spanish talents of techno: kwartz and hector oaks. not too many words to say, but certainly enough to listen.

2014 was a big year for scott moncrieff aka thatmanmonkz. not only did his own label shadeleaf become firmly established he dropped brilliantly received releases on both kolour ltd and here on d.o.g.

this february nightdrivers deliver three first-rate cuts on holic trax for the quando party dove vai ? ep. following on from burnski s the hours ep which saw love from names like mr g, catz n dogz, dam swindle and eats everything, holic trax returns this february with nightdrivers quando party dove vai ? . since delivering their debut release on bosconi records back in 2013 the berlin-based duo nightdrivers have been going from strength to strength stacking up further releases on claap, their own nightdrivers label and now holic trax. to get things underway the light pads of resta pure dove sei give the opening track a floaty quality while the weighty percussion and subtle rhythms build proceedings into a steady and infectious groove. nightdrivers appear to go up a gear as the ep progresses with the rippling drums and dynamic arrangements of la ronde suite (but not for me) while fast cars maintains the lively vibe of its predecessor and frenetically bubbles along over busy modulations, wacky intonations and infectious licks to dish up a suitably punchy close to this bouncy ep.

b1 jamie blanco - unknown reason (alphonse drum prequel) - jamie met alphonse in the studio again, they messed with his track and got the dub machine working overtime on the 808, look out for main mix on the next release.
b2 kruton - lagoon - the sleeping giant here on b2, kruton is not be messed with, he channels a certain mr atkins here and delivers a dream machine opus.

after his first ep for l.i.e.s. last year, tzusing is back with his impeccably produced style of industrial and ebm influenced machine grinding cuts.
the tracks on this ep represent the climate of clubbing yesteryear when it was normal for djs to play such things as ministry, front 242, or nitzer ebb next to a disco track next to a breakbeat track and so forth and to say these tracks could be heard somewhere like medusas would not be off base. driving, engaging and downright gnarly we can only hope these sounds foreshadow things opening back up on the floor as time pushs forward.

celebrated and mercury-nominated uk duo rae & christian released their first new material for ten years in 2013 on night time stories/late night tales after spending the last decade meditating in a buddhist monastery in swindon. this year the label commissioned a series of remixes from mercury rising and mang dynasty (aka ray mang & bill brewster) take on favourite game featuring rising star of the swindon buddhist circuit jake emlyn. mang dynasty focus on gita langley s backing vocal hooks adding a chorus piano motif and stretch things out into an epic nine minute plus main version aimed squarely at the dancefloor (and afghanistan). jake emlyns more aurally-pleasing melodic parts are utilised towards the end taking things up another level to a happy finish. initial reactions have been so strong it seemed rude not to slip out a 12inch on mangled, home of the hits!

neon is not a common name for italian post punk lovers. born in florence, the cradle of peninsulas wave, they were probably the first important post punk gothic band in our country and they are still nowadays one of the most active band in 80s italian new wave time, still marking italian rock history.

the debut release on office recordings is the first part of a series produced by label founder baaz. in my mind is a subtle, shiny piece of jazzyfied house music with a steady rolling groove and dirty kickdrum. glim bangs the box with deep dubs and a sexy vigorous groove. the flip starts with two mind bending downbeat cuts with a stumbling beat. last but not least a slowburning remix of way out citti by matthias reiling (sessionn victim, giegling recordings) and björn astrup who did a brilliant job twisting the original into a soulful homage to the slow side of house music.

if you re going to have an experience, it might as well be a luxury one. lux experience is a mysterious norwegian producer, who presents us with a selection of steamy late night disco re-edits dripping in luxury, trawling his vinyl collection for the choicest sample material. the shimmering disco boogie of doin it is a tribute to one of norway s longest living club nights, dance dance dance is a cover, not an edit, of the classy chic classic and finally u cant hide is a vintage vocal disco gem.

new label from brooklyn s nathaniel jay, also known for his love revolution label, and his work as half of soho808. original music by casey tucker, whose recent releases on boe off-shoot, for those who knoe, inspired jay to seek him out. on remix duties, italys underground don, nick anothony simoncino, of l.i.e.s., echovolt, skywax, quintessentials, and his own label, hotmix, to name but a few. nathaniel is promising big things for his new love notes imprint: this is going to be the best thing ive ever done. we ll take him at his word until he gives us reason not to.

greek duo bonnie & klein aka george & thanasis have been slowly making a name for themselves through a string of well crafted releases on labels music for dreams, timewarp and uber. their style hasnt gone unnoticed by ibizan legend jose padilla who put their recent track *carina* on his latest compilation. bonnie & klein are not only producers of the chillout sound as driving beats slowly building up with african sounding percussion more classic chillout sound and tops off an excellent 12 inch for leng.

inspired by a journey of a man, who is not afraid to leave everything behind and travel far beyond the stars, vakula sets off for the exploration on new sound magnitudes. written by david lindsay in 1920, a story of a fearless traveler who is exposed to sublime energies and unknown spheres concurs with vakulas perception of reality and his personal voyage to unknown dimensions. claimed to be a soundtrack to a voyage to arcturus, the album is an attempt to expend beyond conventions of the modern house music and dedication to daring ventures.

wph kicks off 2015 with a new e.p. by the mighty luv jam from wales. living in a universe that is entirely his own andrew cole has cooked up two more of his ‘especially for wph’-tracks. one here at wph hq can only be flattered! ‘californian freestyler’ is the more peak time burner of the two, but ‘bmx bandito’ will not disappoint the more discerning punters out there either. on remix duty we find the main artist from our friends at uncanny valley in dresden, jacob korn. any work by jacob is always a treat and this here is no exception. flexing our digging talents we have also licensed a luv jam remix from the good people at panta rhei that was only released on limited 7”. we feel it deserved to be on a 12”, so there.

he is young, gifted and italian! corrado bucci is the latest star to enter the local talk family of house. he currently holds the a&r position at rebirth records where he also put out the beautiful *open your eyes* single last year. he previously also released on defected and has earned respect from people like gilles peterson, jimpster, dan curtin, agoria, x-press 2, ben westbeech and solomun to name just a few.

pablo and shoey return just in time for festival season with 4 new bits for the front of your box. e-man groove is a massive disco-rock jam that could have been sprung from the minds of dem idjut boys, with sympathy for the devil style percussion and wild guitar riffing driving the whole thing. blazing sunshine, meanwhile, is a funky, hammond organ led version of let the sunshine in, a guaranteed hands in the air moment when dropped at the right time. disco treat is more of a modern floor-burner, closer to straight production edit with a bouncing bassline and all manner of whacked out disco sounds in the mix, not to mention breakdowns for days. rounding off the package is some classic funky soul breaks - the lads tear a chunk off bettye lavettes soul tambourine to make play it, break it on down! as sampled on stezos golden era hip hop rocker to the max.

johannes volk is a discrete man, a talented producer who does not expose himself excessively, supporting a personal approach far from the common formats. for a long time we wished to invite him on the label : it s done !! he offers to us three tracks with retrofuturistic sonorities, forming the three parts of a puzzle. birth of frequency delivers to us the fourth part with a minimalist and remix, full of mystery

what do people like balihus daniel wang and royksopp have in common? they write nice things like this about our (not so) new talent kid on the block. polosh superproducer maximilian skiba! music from a very good young polish producer, warm chords, funky melodies, think bass and guitars by chic meeting a string section by beethoven, with a touch of italo-disco and almost flamenco-like soul daniel wang he produces very nice italo disco tracks, im a fan royksopp. shanghouse is an instant hit. i would say instant classic if this wasnt so daft and meaningless. if you just heard it 5 times and feel the need to put it on another time. thats shanghouse by max skiba. then theres a great remix by victor rosado and a great slightly diverse prins thomas edit of korsakot another track.

the km editions series, admirably helmed by the mysterious keyboard masher, has always been one of the more interesting re-edit/rework labels. past installments have touched on krautrock, disco, balearica, funk, italo and what can only be described as electronic oddities. this sixth volume offers up three more impressively remixed, overdubbed and reedited gems. theres naturally much to admire, not least the omd style woozy synth-pop of stolen shapes (stealing rework), which should tickle the fancy of anyone of a balearic disposition. the same can be said about the immersive, sun-kissed pianos and shuffling grooves of -astral playground. there s also a chunk of silly but, perversely, rather good french cod-reggae in the shape of le cod-, arguably our pick of a strong bunch.

in about 2003 i did some work for deepfunk and northern soul legend keb darge and as was the way back then i received payment in vinyl. included in the pile was this little detroit number which i instantly fell in love with. in 1980 david mcmurray and adell shavers and david mcmurray (who went on to be a member of 80s hit band was not was) wrote and produced this amazing detroit modern / boogie 45 which for some reason suffered the same fate of many of aotn releases and disappeared from history. but thanks to the generation of collectors before me this gem sat safely in northern collection such as kebs for years waiting for its day in the sun. it only got limited play but recently the record has had a resurgence in popularity and value which it deserves. after a tip off from jason stirland (soulstax records) i found david mcmurray and it was wonderful to find he was keen to help me bring this wonderful 45 back into the limelight. so here we are…
